Local Synthetic Biology Meet-ups
Synthetic biology is a growing are of research across Cambridge and Norwich, with an active and engaged community.
OpenPlant is linked to several groups across East Anglia that provide events, informal meet-ups and space for anyone interested in joining our varied and growing network.
Cafe Synthetique
Café Synthetique is the monthly meetup for the Cambridge synthetic biology community with informal talks, discussion and pub snacks. Meetings are held at at the Panton Arms to share the latest developments in synthetic biology and related approaches and techniques. Speakers range from students and group leaders to industry professionals and entrepreneurs. Cafe Synthetique events are listed on the Cambridge Synthetic Biology Meetup group.
Norwich Bio Makers
Norwich Biomakers is a network of people with varied skills who share an interest in the cross-over of biology with technologies such as design, electronics, software, hardware engineering and art. Norwich Biomakers is a place to learn about the latest technologies and scientific advances, share ideas and skills and start new projects. We run two types of events: “Learn about” and “Try it out” sessions. Norwich Bio Makers events are listed on the Norwich Bio Makers meetup group.
Synthetic Biology IRC
The Synthetic Biology Interdisciplinary Research Centre provides a hub for anyone interested in Synthetic Biology at the University of Cambridge, as well as commercial partners and external collaborators. They promote interdisciplinary exchange through regular events and project funding. SynBio IRC events are listed on the Cambridge Synthetic Biology Meetup group.
CUSBS
The Synthetic Biology Society (SynBioSoc) brings together the student community of Cambridge to promote the burgeoning discipline of synthetic biology, which applies the principles of engineering to tackle key problems in biology, medicine, industry, and other applied fields. Cambridge Makespace
Makespace is a community workshop in the heart of Cambridge, with the space and equipment for members to learn, invent, build and play. The equipment ranges from sewing machines and crafting tools to 3D printers, laser cutters, CNC routers and metal lathes. Makespace events are listed on the Makespace Meetup group.
Cambridge Biomakespace
Biomakespace is Cambridge’s first community based, open access biology and prototyping space. They provide members with affordable access to a well equipped lab and prototyping space as well as to training and social events.
